Puppy Adoption Process
We put a lot of thought and care into making sure our puppies find the most loving homes. To begin the Samoyed adoption process, you’ll first need to fill out an application. After we take a look at your application and think you’d be a great match, we’ll reach out with details on how to make a deposit. Then, your puppy will be all set to come home at 8 weeks old! We’ve put together some additional details below to make it easier for you to understand how this process works.
Step 1: Apply and Deposit
Puppies are only available to approved depositors. Start by filling out a Puppy Application. We will usually review your application and give you a response within 1 business day.
Once you are approved and have placed a $500 deposit, you have a few options:
You can adopt any available puppy. It is not very often we have puppies immediately available, but if existing depositors choose to pass on a puppy, we will list them as available to new depositors.
You can place your name on our Master List of Depositors. Once we receive your deposit, your name will be added to the depositor master list and you will be able to choose from future litters based on your seniority on the list.
Please note, deposits are always refundable (minus an 8% processing fee) up until you choose a puppy. If you are on our master list of depositors and you find your furry family member elsewhere, just send us an email and we will process the refund within 2 business days.
Step 2: Wait for Litter Announcement
Whenever a new litter comes in, we’ll send out an email to all depositors to share the exciting news! This email will have a link with more details, including a form for you to apply to be added to the picking list for this litter. Just a heads up, applying to join the picking spot of a litter doesn’t automatically secure your spot. We assign these positions according to the seniority on the Master List.
If you’re not interested in a puppy from the current litter we announced and would prefer to wait for a future one, feel free to just ignore this email and keep an eye out for the next announcement!
Just a friendly reminder that some of our depositors are eagerly waiting for specific litters, colors, genders, and more! Even if you’re in Position #20 on our master list, there’s still a chance for you to get a puppy from any litter we announce! If those ahead of you aren’t interested in choosing a puppy from that litter, you might just get lucky!
Whenever you pass on a current litter and those before you select from it, your name climbs higher on the Master List, increasing your chances for a better pick in upcoming litters.
For example, if a litter has 4 puppies and depositor number 2, 6, 8, 11, and 15 apply, then 2, 6, 8, and 11 will all be added to the picking list in position 1, 2, 3, and 4 for that litter but depositor number 15 will have to wait for future litters and will be moved 4 spots up on the master list which will place them at position number 11 when applying for the next litter.
Step 3: Review 6 Week Pictures, Video, and Aptitude Test
It’s important to think about not just the looks and gender of your new Samoyed puppy, but also the traits and personality too! At 6 weeks of age, when your puppy’s brain is fully developed, we provide a Puppy Aptitude Test Result for each puppy to assist you in making your decision. We’ll be sending an email to everyone on this litter list with some new pictures from the last 6 weeks, a video, and the aptitude test report for you to check out before you make your decision the next day.
Step 4: Puppy Pick Day at 6 Weeks and 1 Day
Our wonderful depositors will get to choose their puppies once they reach 6 weeks and 1 day old. We kindly request that the first person selecting their pup lets us know their choice by 10:00 am (Mountain Time Zone), and then we’ll move on to the #2 depositor and continue from there. Most of our depositors are typically eager to share their choice right away, so we usually complete the process within just a few hours. We kindly ask that all picks be confirmed by email to avoid any confusion.
When it’s your turn to choose, just send us an email with your puppy pick, and we’ll happily post your choice on the litter page right away! If the puppy you were hoping for gets picked, you can either select another puppy from that litter or put your name back on our waitlist.
Just a friendly reminder that when you select a puppy, we take that as a sign of your full commitment, and your deposit will be refundable. If you decide to go with a puppy and later have a change of heart, no worries! We can easily place you back on the waitlist for a $500 transfer fee.
Step 5: Final Payment
Once everyone has picked their puppy, it’s time to settle up your final balance. We’ll send you the puppy agreement along with the invoice via email! This invoice will show the price of your puppy after deducting the deposit you’ve already made, along with any additional costs for optional puppy obedience training and/or transportation.
Feel free to settle the remaining balance using CashApp, Zelle Cash, or a Check! When sending a check, we kindly ask that you mail it as soon as possible. This way, we can receive and process it before shipping, if needed. Thank you! Just a friendly reminder, all payments need to be completed before your puppy is ready to head home or start training.
Step 6: Puppies either head home or start their training at 8 weeks!
Our adorable little puppies are all set to find their forever homes or start obedience training at 8 weeks old. Just a friendly reminder that our puppies will be ready to go home no earlier than 8 weeks of age. It’s really important for all puppies to have the chance to spend their first 8 weeks with their mom and siblings, and to be properly weaned between 7-8 weeks of age.
We make every effort to send our puppies to their new homes within 7 days of the “go-home” or graduation date, and we’re more than happy to continue boarding your puppy beyond that date. Just a friendly reminder, we do have a $50/day boarding fee that applies after the first 7 days of boarding.
